THE STAR WILL LEAD YOU

BY PASTOR JOSE RODRIGUEZ

“After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.”
— Matthew 2:9 (NIV)

In the book of Matthew we are introduced to Magi, who scholars tell us were secular, pagan astronomers who were possible descendants of Noah’s three sons. Matthew also described them as wise. Why were they considered wise? The scriptures tell us that they were given two revelations from God:

  1. They were given a special sign, the star

  2. They were given the Old Testament prophecy about the birth of a King in Bethlehem, as told by the prophet Micah

Matthew tells us that they followed His star. What was this star? Down through the ages, there have been many attempts to uncover the nature of this star. The wise men did not try to determine what it was, they simply followed it by faith.

In our text we are told that the star “went before them.” God was guiding the wise men to Christ. All they had to do was follow where God was leading them right to the very house where Jesus was living.

The wise men were truly wise, because they believed the signs in front of them that told of the birth of a great King. They sought Him by following His star and pursuing the right path that God had laid before them.

This Christmas just as the magi believed and followed the star, let us also believe and follow the right path that God has laid before us in His Word.

Today that same Jesus wants us to seek Him and He wants to be found. When we seek Him, He makes it easy for us to find Him.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You that Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. This Christmas lead me into your presence, that I may worship you.
